Description:

A 12-bore 1863  patent thumb-hole underlever, snapaction hammergun with 30"  nitro reproved damascus barrels, the rib engraved 'J. PURDEY. 314 1/2 OXFORD STREET. LONDON.'   2 1/2" chambers bored approximately true cylinder in both.  Slim serpentine fences, non-rebounding back-action locks with finely carved hammers, fine border and acanthus scroll engraving, the underside engraved 'PURDEY PATENT.'.  Retaining traces of colour-hardening and finish.  14 3/8" highly-figured stock including steel buttplate.
